Snooker James Cahill parents are Maria and Patrick Cahill. 

English professional snooker player James Cahill hails from Blackpool. After winning the European Under 21 Championships, Cahill turned professional in 2013, when he was 17. In 2017, he went back to being an amateur.

Cahill qualified for the 2019 World Snooker Championship as an amateur and made it to the main draw, making history. In the first round of the competition, he defeated Ronnie O’Sullivan, the top seed in the world, 10-8.

Cahill earned a fresh two-year tour card as the second-ranked player on the one-year list who wasn’t rated in the top 64 following the 2018–19 season. In June 2019, he returned to the professional tour, was demoted again in June 2021, and returned in June 2022.

The snooker club, his family owns was broken into during the World Snooker Championship qualifying rounds. Cahill’s cue remained unharmed despite money being taken and things being destroyed.

Both of James Cahill’s parents have played amateur snooker in the past, with Maria holding a high ranking throughout the 1980s. Patrick and Maria Cahill welcomed Cahill into the world on December 27, 1995, in Blackpool, UK. 

Via his mother, Maria, the sister of Stephen Hendry’s ex-wife, who is a seven-time world champion, he is a nephew of Hendry. His mum operates a snooker club in Preston.

James Cahill attributed a lot of his success to his mother when he became the first amateur to win a spot in the World Championship at The Crucible.

“I owe my career to my family, especially my mother,” said Cahill, who, thanks to his performance in the qualifications, also secured a spot back on the professional tour.

His mother, Maria Cahill, a prominent women’s player in the 1980s and 1990s, recalled that traveling to Pontins with her late father Mick, who was also a great amateur in Blackpool, gave her a sense of déjà vu.

Although she had always imagined playing in The Crucible, she admitted that seeing her son get a spot to compete there was “much better” than her ambition.

Snooker player Maria found it tough to support herself, and by the time she gave birth to her daughter Maria and son James, she was running Riley’s Snooker Club in Blackpool.

In the future, James Cahill’s parents and Stephen Hendry, a century-break player, purchased their own snooker club in Preston, named Stephen Hendry’s Snooker Club after their ex-brother-in-law, the seven-time world champion.

James Cahill’s parents took him out of school when he was 15 years old and paid for a tutor so he could go to competitions. His mother claims that he was destined to perform at the theater of dreams for snooker.

James Cahill is a professional snooker player, and his estimated net worth is $2 million. During the 2013–2014 season, Cahill only won three games, and he finished his first year on the circuit ranked 117th in the world.

Cahill participated in two professional tournaments while still an amateur. He competed as an amateur throughout the season but qualifying gave him access to the elite competition.

To go to the 2018 World Open main stage, Cahill overcame Liang Wenbo in qualifying. Andrew Higginson, however, defeated Cahill 4-5.

Despite being an amateur, Cahill received a qualifying wildcard berth for the 2019 World Championship from the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association.

Cahill did not attain the achievements expected of a professional player despite making it to the second round of the world championships and beginning the next season with 0 ranking points.

After the 2020–21 season, he placed 90th in the world rankings; nevertheless, in June 2021, he resumed playing as an amateur.
