Joey Calcaterra, a rising basketball player from Novato, CA, played for the University of San Diego before transferring to the University of Connecticut as a graduate student.

He is 6 foot 3, plays the position of guard, and through his fantastic craftsmanship on the court, he has significantly impacted his new team.

Previously, at San Diego, he had an impressive record of 8.2 points average, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists, securing him a deal with UConn in 2022.

Joey Calcaterra Brother: Frank And Nick Calcaterra Age Gap

Joey has two elder brothers, Frank, who played basketball at Cal Lutheran and Nick, who played at San Francisco State.

Joey is one year and two months younger than Frank, but Nick’s age has not been disclosed. However, we can speculate them to be around the same age.

Frank Joesph Calcaterra, born on March 19, 1997, is a marketing communication major with an entrepreneurial/small business minor.

Initially, played basketball for three years with the Wildcats when attending Marlin Catholic high school before entering CLU.

Furthermore, in Cal Lutheran, he debuted against Redlands in 2015-16 as a forward, and in 2016-17, he appeared in one game against Bethesda, scoring five points and having two rebounds and an assist.

Lastly, Frank’s most memorable sports moment was winning the NCS championship.

Nick Joseph Calcaterra is a senior class basketball player for San Francisco State Gators, majoring in Hospitality Tourism Management.

The guard scored his first point in Gators’ game against Chico State in the 2013-14 season. In the same season, he appeared in 15 games, scoring 14 points and five assists.

After that, in the 2014-15 season, he scored 58 points in 23 appearances. Likewise, he shined the best in 2015-16, starring in 18 of 27 games, scoring career-high 22 points in Gators’ win over Dixie State.

Joey Calcaterra Parents: Rich And Wendy Calcaterra

Joey was born to Wendy and Rich on October 15, 1998; his parents are of Italian descent. The family plans to visit their ancestral home in northern Italy.

Rich is a passionate UConn fan and convinced Joey to transfer to UConn.

Moreover, his business, Enterprise Events Group, organizes 200 corporate events annually worldwide, ranging from 45,000-person congresses to 200-person African safaris.

Likewise, his mother, Wendy, is from Milwaukee and has been spotted at her son’s game sporting ‘Joey California’ gear.

However, the basketball athlete has not provided many specifics regarding his parents, and little information about them is available.

It is not uncommon for athletes to keep their parent’s personal life private from the media. This shows that he values his parents’ privacy, keeping them away from the public’s eyes.   

Joey Calcaterra Career Overview

Before college, Joey played four years at Marlin Catholic High School, averaging 30.0 points per game in his senior year and, as a junior, averaged 27.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists.

Proceeded to play for San Diego in 2018-19 as a freshman, and appeared in 32 games, making five starts with an average of 2.8 points and 0.9 rebounds.

However, he earned the starting guard position only during his sophomore year, then started all 32 games with an average of 11.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists.

Correspondingly, in his junior year, he scored ten double-figure games in 12 games, including a career-high 23 at Santa Clara.

Similarly, as a senior in 2021-22, they started in 23 out of 29 games, averaging 8.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists and shooting .288 overall.

Currently, the young athlete is throwing bangers at UConn. More importantly, he may be drafted into the NBA if he shows dedication and improvement.
