After an initial diagnosis, therapy, and hospitalization, Ponzinibbio was discharged but still losing weight. Then, he had a temperature of 103 degrees, which terrified his doctors.

Ponzinibbio had already been kicked out of the gym after this episode, so he made the trip to Las Vegas to begin his recovery under the watchful eye of coaches, trainers, and therapists at the UFC Performance Institute.

Sadly, he quickly discovered his body wasn’t getting stronger despite rigorous physical therapy sessions. Ponzinibbio’s resumed fitness program was causing him to feel worse physically because he was seeing no improvement.
