Cam is an American basketball player who plays guard position for Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Let’s know more about the Cam Spencer injury and hip surgery.

Cam is a senior guard player who stands six foot and 4 inches in height and weighs 207 lbs. He graduated from the Boys’ Latin School of Maryland, winning six letter winners.

The guard of Rutgers played basketball as a sophomore, junior and senior. Apart from playing basketball, he played lacrosse as a junior and senior and varsity golf as a freshman.

In 2019, Cam was named Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) SportsMajors Player of the year.

Donna Spencer and Bruce Spencer are the names of his mother and father, respectively. He is not the only child of his parents, as he has two brothers, Pat and Will Spencer.

Cam was born on April 6, 2000, in Davidsonville, Maryland, where he grew up as a teenager. As of 2024, he is 24 years old.

As a freshman, he was named to the Patriot League All-Rookie Team. Cam played in 23 games and made nine starts.

Cam Spencer Injury: Hip Surgery

Spencer had an evident form and was promising from the beginning of the 2019-20 season as he led the squad at 3.3 assists per game and ranked third in points with 10.0 points per game.

With 10.0 points per game, he also ranked seventh in rebounds with 3.4 en routes and was named to the Patriot League All-Rookie Team.

In January 2020, he missed nine games primarily due to the pain in his hip and went through an unfavorable knife sensation.

After dealing with lots of pain, he underwent hip surgery to shave down the head of the femur bone, which was not fitting the hip socket.

Cam and hip surgery also dealt with a stress fracture that forced him to miss a lacrosse season at Boys’ Latin.

Following the surgery and recovery, he was out for an extended period of time, which was the worst time of his life.

Cam stated, “I definitely appreciate it every day now and look at it as a positive that I’m able to go out and practice every day and play games.” when asked how he feels about the injury.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights Guard Cam Health Update

Cam recovered from the surgery and is playing for Rutgers Scarlet Knights in NCAA as a guard. He has taken the surgery he went through and the recovery period where he lost some of his play as a positive result.

Spencer said he, honestly, looked favorable to him because it was the time when the COVID pandemic started, and half of the season was canceled for a lot of teams.

He said he could still rehab while his team wasn’t playing due to the pandemic, and he got the time to rehab and worked hard to get back fit and fine.

After some period of time, basketball started again during the pandemic. Cam averaged 10.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in five matches.

During that season, his team Loyola Maryland Greyhounds had a good run and reached the final of the Patriot League, which they failed to win after losing to Colgate 85-72.

Being named to the All-Patriot League First Team and Academic All-Patriot League Team, he also earned All-NABC District XII Second Team recognition.

After playing three seasons for Loyola Maryland Greyhounds, he transferred to Rutgers Scarlet Knights in 2022, where he currently plays.
