“My professional team and I played an exhibition game versus Connecticut in Storrs,” Balazs stated in an email, recalling a November 17, 1993 matchup.

“That was an unforgettable experience, and it means much more to me that my daughter had the opportunity to play for UConn and coach Geno Auriemma.”

Balazs, at that time, was a well-established player in Hungary.

She was a professional player for a long time and only retired when pregnant with Dorka.

Her mother was also a longtime Hungarian senior national team player and played about 125 games.
