He played hockey with the Red River College Rebels as a student in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He played for the Rebels for two seasons and was regarded as one of the best goalies in the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference at that time.

The Toronto Maple Leafs picked Reimer in the fourth round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Before making his NHL debut in December 2010, he played in the lower levels for several seasons.

At a junior hockey game in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Reimer first met his wife, April. When Reimer was a member of the Panthers, the pair welcomed two children into the world in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 2017 and 2019.

James Reimer Career

James Reimer established himself in the league quite fast, being known as one of the best young goalies in the competition.

Reimer and the Florida Panthers agreed to a five-year deal in July 2016. He spent three seasons with the Panthers as their backup goalkeeper to Roberto Luongo.

James produced respectable stats while playing with the Panthers, including a career-high save percentage of .938 in the 2017–18 campaign. He was dealt to the Carolina Hurricanes in June 2019 since the team struggled to reach the playoffs while he was there.

He has returned to form during his stay in Carolina. Being one of the team’s finest goaltenders and a crucial contributor to their success, he helped them advance far in the playoffs in the 2020 postseason.
