Jeffrey Scott Skinner, a left winger for the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League, is a professional ice hockey player from Canada.

He played for the Carolina Hurricanes for eight seasons and was their alternate captain from 2016 to 2018.

The Hurricanes selected Skinner with the seventh overall pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

During the 2010–11 season, he was the youngest player in the league and the youngest person to have ever participated in an All-Star game for any of the four major North American sports leagues.

He became the first Hurricanes player to win the Calder Memorial Trophy for best rookie in the 2010–11 Campaign.

Jeff Skinner was born to attorneys Andrew Skinner and Elisabeth Campin on May 16, 1992. His five siblings have all played hockey at some point or another.

He took part in the 2005 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with Markham.

In the 2008 Ontario Hockey League draft, Skinner was taken by the Kitchener Rangers as the 20th overall choice after a successful Campaign with the Toronto Young Nationals.

He participated in his first OHL game on September 18, 2008, a 4-2 win over the Plymouth Whalers, scoring two goals and contributing an assist.

Skinner was selected to represent Team Canada at the 2009 World U-17 Hockey Challenge by November 13, 2008, and he scored the game-winning goal to help the team winning the gold medal.

A few days later, Skinner was honored for his achievements in the classroom while attending Eastwood Collegiate Institute with the Rangers Academic Player of the Month Award.
